This morning was sunny and the day ended with rain. But my spirit went exactly vice versa, down in the morning, up in the evening. Sometimes my mind conforms to its own rules, like sand running through a mental hourglass. Daily Painting about hourglass 23 Juli 2010, 7:55 Tanz im körpereigenen Stundenglas, Aquarell und Bleistift, 16 x 13,5 cm
Good that it rains a little bit in these minutes. It’s so dry people start speaking about drought. I saw the little streams in the wood vanish. Good that I’m no ballett swan, it would be difficult to find a serious lake to die on.
Today I cleaned up on the attic and found some books of Virginia Woolf. Strange, she was our guide on the path to feminism and today she seems to be forgotten. But when I watch young girls our narrow path turned into a comfortable main road now. Good.
Today I’m in the academy. 70th birthday of my colleague Otmar Alt. Speeches and honours. But I’m glad, that I will see the whole pack of artists working there and have a real good time with them. For me art is the only way to live and I enjoy this madness every single day.
An unpleasant day: I had a hangover. Too much red wine yesterday and then a restless night. It’s not alone the headache, the fatigue and the strange feeling in the stomach, but you are unconcentrated and silly. Daily Painting about hangover 18 Juli 2010, 8:09 Katertag, Aquarell, 25 x 24 cm
I can paint again. That’s nice. Not so nice is that it is so hot you better stay in a cool room and don’t move. The swifts hold adventurous races around the house sqealing enthusiasticly. Seems they have lots of fun. Because of the heat they don’t need to sit on the eggs and can keep racing. Daily Painting about hot tyres 9 Juli 2010, 7:42 Ich brüte hier, und Du, Du schläfst, Aquarell, 32 x 24 cm
Today I was so confused for vanity about the huge print that I was totally unable to work. So I pickled mushrooms, polished the copper pans and stumbled daftly through the house. But now I think I should pull myself together and don’t lose sight of the aim. Whatever this could be, at the moment I can’t remember.
The rain, that fell after the heat, made the forrester happy. In the last days it was so hot, that he planned to close the wood to prevent forest fires. Imagine a young loving pair with burning hearts making hot love in the bush, that could cause a catastrophe!
The rainstorm yesterday evening brought no cooling but left an air that was soaked with wetness. I felt like I was walking on the ground of a pressure cooker. And the whole day I was looking for my circulatory. I still remember the times when I had one, it was nice. Daily Painting about humid heat 4 Juli 2010, 7:28 Abtauchen, Bleistift auf Aquarell, 24 x 12 cm
While I watched Argentina – Germany, I remembered the same situation 4 years ago. Then I saw the match with people that turned out to be the most devious and false persons I ever met. But the good thing is, they’re only a bad memory. Daily Painting about furtiveness 3 Juli 2010, 8:13 Hinter dem Rücken der anderen, Aquarell, 21 x 16,5 cm
