Wonderful news: in Cologne they will name a street after my grandmother Marta Hegemann, the great paintress. All his life my father fought for the apprediation of her work and biography. Such a pity he can’t witness it anymore. Daily Painting about Marta Hegemann 17 Juli 2010, 5:43 Die Straße der hundertprozentigen Frau, Aquarell, 20,5 x 23 cm
Today I had in the academy a class of mentally severely disabled children. It was complete madness, total anarchy, unbelievable loud and exhausting but it was one of the most wonderful days of my life. I don’t know why, but I feel spiritually refreshed. Daily Painting about little giants 27 Mai 2010, 7:56 Kleine Riesen, Aquarell, 10,5 x 8 cm
Everyday when I start a new watercolour it’s like a new adventure. Each weather has its own rules, each paper needs other techniques. It’s like climbing on a horse you don’t know – at least I guess it’s like it because I can’t ride. Daily Painting about the unknown 19 Mai 2010, 7:56 Malerin und der tägliche Schritt ins Ungewisse, Aquarell, 32 x 24 cm
Since days I stare at the news from Cologne: they pull down the Schauspielhaus without any chance to build a new one (like the Kunsthalle) and then the U-Bahn – OMG! It’s like a local version of the financial crisis, the greed has no limit. Daily Painting about a town that dumps itself 18 Februar 2010, 7:15 Viva Colonia – Eine Stadt verschlingt sich selbst, Aquarell, 16,5 x 21,5 cm
Carnival all over the world: Cologne, Venice and Rio. And you too should be happy wherever you are. Life is too short to stay on the dark side of the gloom. Take a funny hat and join the fun. Daily Painting on three-cornered hats 15 Februar 2010, 6:28 Mein Hut der hat 3 Ecken (Rote Funken), Aquarell, 17 x 12 cm
Some of you asked me why I rarely paint something erotic. Strange, in my eyes most of what I do has something to do with sex. But perhaps it’s a little bit hidden. So today I include a hole for the voyeurs among you. Daily Painting about cold weather and to make the best of it 12 Februar 2010, 7:35 Das Vollmondweib und sein Gefolge, Aquarell, 17 x 12 cm
Carnival today! A very happy Alaaf to all of you who weren’t scared off partying from the coldness and the tons of snow. And a big salute to all who don’t let themselves pull down by problems and keep their head up! Daily Painting about fools 11 Februar 2010, 7:28 Die besten Wünsche von der Narrenzunft, Aquarell auf Acryl, 30 x 21 cm
Snow the whole day through. Now it’s getting difficult. Everybody is very upset, traffic gets impossible. And the animals get mad too: tonight I counted my dogs and suddenly I had five! A fox joined in for a few minutes until he vanished in the dark. Daily Painting about fox in snow 1 Februar 2010, 7:18 Ohne Titel (Fuchs).jpg, Gouache, 18 x 24 cm
Today I have guests: a fellow artist from the academy in Heimbach, Hans Helle and his family. They struggled through the snow and now we’re sitting and eating and talking arts. It’s great to have so wonderful colleagues. Daily Painting about light and art 30 Januar 2010, 7:25 Lichtblicke, Ölkreide auf Aquarell, 25 x 22 cm
Today I had a long talking to a police officer about a man who threatened me several times. It’s difficult, no witnesses and nothing provable. I will lead off the fight against this sick man – but smart and intelligent. You know me, I’d better love to simply puff him away! Daily Painting about headwind 25 Januar 2010, 7:40 Gegenwind, Aquarell, 25 x 22,5 cm
