Weekend! All the happy people from the town come to enjoy the last rest of the melting snow in the Eifel. But we would be happy to get rid of it. Even the owls are sitting in the trees and complain about the slender fare. Daily Painting about the joy of snow

Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you see that this day will be dark. No light, no passion, no hope and no future. So I dedicate my Daily Painting to all of you who feel bad in these days or are beset by sorrow and send you conjurors who sing and dance the light back

A grey day in the Eifel. The snow vanishes slowly with no visible sign of meltwater. It’s still cold and you begin to think about the times where the trees had leaves and the sun sent out warmth. Daily Painting about waiting for the colours coming back

Today I return from Bristol – hopefully happy and healthy. How is the house, how are the animals? No dramas? I’m always afraid of what awaits me coming home from a journey. And in the start it’s always seems to be so simple. Daily Painting about the difficulties of flying high

Eifel Flood Disaster

The flood disaster on 14–15 July 2021 destroyed almost the entirety of Maf Räderscheidt’s life’s work when a flood wave from the Urft, approximately 3.50 high, surged through her studio on the Plan in Gemünd and swept thousands of paintings, watercolours, drawings, etchings and everything else towards Lake Urft. Consequently, almost every image posted before that date has, sadly, been destroyed and is no longer available. The few that were saved are completely ruined and contaminated by water, mud and the many unspeakable things that were washed down to Gemünd from thousands of garden sheds, cars, heating oil tanks and five sewage treatment works.
