Wonderful news: in Cologne they will name a street after my grandmother Marta Hegemann, the great paintress. All his life my father fought for the apprediation of her work and biography. Such a pity he can’t witness it anymore. Daily Painting about Marta Hegemann 17 July 2010, 5:43 pm The street of the hundred percent woman, watercolour, 20,5 x 23 cm
Today I had in the academy a class of mentally severely disabled children. It was complete madness, total anarchy, unbelievable loud and exhausting but it was one of the most wonderful days of my life. I don’t know why, but I feel spiritually refreshed. Daily Painting about little giants 27 May 2010, 7:56 pm Little giants, watercolour, 10,5 x 8 cm
Everyday when I start a new watercolour it’s like a new adventure. Each weather has its own rules, each paper needs other techniques. It’s like climbing on a horse you don’t know – at least I guess it’s like it because I can’t ride. Daily Painting about the unknown 19 May 2010, 7:56 pm Paintress and the everyday step into the unknown, watercolour, 32 x 24 cm
Since days I stare at the news from Cologne: they pull down the Schauspielhaus without any chance to build a new one (like the Kunsthalle) and then the U-Bahn – OMG! It’s like a local version of the financial crisis, the greed has no limit. Daily Painting about a town that dumps itself 18 February 2010, 7:15 pm Viva Colonia – a city gulps itself, watercolour, 16,5 x 21,5 cm
Carnival all over the world: Cologne, Venice and Rio. And you too should be happy wherever you are. Life is too short to stay on the dark side of the gloom. Take a funny hat and join the fun. Daily Painting on three-cornered hats 15 February 2010, 6:28 pm My hat, it got 3 corners (Rote Funken), watercolour, 17 x 12 cm
Some of you asked me why I rarely paint something erotic. Strange, in my eyes most of what I do has something to do with sex. But perhaps it’s a little bit hidden. So today I include a hole for the voyeurs among you. Daily Painting about cold weather and to make the best of it 12 February 2010, 7:35 pm The full moon woman and her following, watercolour, 17 x 12 cm
Carnival today! A very happy Alaaf to all of you who weren’t scared off partying from the coldness and the tons of snow. And a big salute to all who don’t let themselves pull down by problems and keep their head up! Daily Painting about fools 11 February 2010, 7:28 pm Best wishes from the fool’s guild, watercolour on acrylic, 30 x 21 cm
Snow the whole day through. Now it’s getting difficult. Everybody is very upset, traffic gets impossible. And the animals get mad too: tonight I counted my dogs and suddenly I had five! A fox joined in for a few minutes until he vanished in the dark. Daily Painting about fox in snow 1 February 2010, 7:18 pm Sorry, this entry is only available in Deutsch.
Today I have guests: a fellow artist from the academy in Heimbach, Hans Helle and his family. They struggled through the snow and now we’re sitting and eating and talking arts. It’s great to have so wonderful colleagues. Daily Painting about light and art 30 January 2010, 7:25 pm Glimmer of light, oil crayon on watercolour, 25 x 22 cm
Today I had a long talking to a police officer about a man who threatened me several times. It’s difficult, no witnesses and nothing provable. I will lead off the fight against this sick man – but smart and intelligent. You know me, I’d better love to simply puff him away! Daily Painting about headwind 25 January 2010, 7:40 pm Headwind, watercolour, 25 x 22,5 cm
