Today was Summer party in a retirement home nearby. And I was asked to make portraits of the old. And as I drew their faces I fell in love with the wisdom and clarity I saw in there. When they fell asleep while sitting for me they had the beauty of a dying candle. Daily Painting about wisdom 11 July 2010, 7:51 pm Youth and wisdom in the same light, watercolour, 25,5 x 16,5 cm
I can paint again. That’s nice. Not so nice is that it is so hot you better stay in a cool room and don’t move. The swifts hold adventurous races around the house sqealing enthusiasticly. Seems they have lots of fun. Because of the heat they don’t need to sit on the eggs and can keep racing. Daily Painting about hot tyres 9 July 2010, 7:42 pm I hatch and you, you sleep, watercolour, 32 x 24 cm
Today I was so confused for vanity about the huge print that I was totally unable to work. So I pickled mushrooms, polished the copper pans and stumbled daftly through the house. But now I think I should pull myself together and don’t lose sight of the aim. Whatever this could be, at the moment I can’t remember. Daily Painting about sight 8 July 2010, 7:55 pm Who is nobody’s fool, should keep the aim in sight, watercolour, 19 x 16,5 cm
Today you could see me in wild acrobatic wrenches preparing the studio window of my house as a little personal display. A hard job, because I had blocked the sight before. But now it’s done and I think it was worth the effort. If you are around, come and have a look! Daily Painting about decoration 28 June 2010, 8:10 pm I’m the echo of my hopes burden, washed ink with pencil, 29,6 x 20,9 cm
All my life I had problems to sleep. But since 2 years, since I moved here, I sleep like a log. On the day before my birthday I spend a special art sheep for all of you who count 100s of sheeps or read endless books . I hope it helps. Daily Painting about sound sleep 19 June 2010, 5:36 pm Every evening the same sheep, watercolour, 24 x 18 cm
Today I found a molehill in my garden. I love moles, they are cute, black and velvety. But I’m worried: my cats kill moles. And so I think about scaring it away. Perhaps they hate radio? Stones? Marching music? Stravinsky? Yma Sumac? Daily Painting about moles 14 June 2010, 7:36 pm Attention mole, watercolour, 16,5 x 19 cm
Today was Farmer’s Market in Schleiden. Actually it is not only a market, but a social meeting point, see and be seen. But above all this market is the heart of the local Gossip Exchange System, so I feel myself completely informed now! Daily Painting about gossips 13 June 2010, 7:58 pm Gossip factory, ink, watercolour and charcoal, 24 x 32 cm
New colours came today. I unpacked them and watched the pouring rain, as suddenly the dogs went berserk and I heard a heavy gasping. And when I looked I saw 20 firefighters in gas masks running through the rain. Oh, I’ll get evacuated, I said and they yelled back, yes, quick, come with us! Daily Painting about emergency response drill. 12 June 2010, 7:42 pm Upcoming hecticness, watercolour with drawing ink, 24 x 32 cm
Is it an accident that the german government announced these unsocial cost cuts a few days before the beginning of the football world cup? Is it an accident that they call it „package“ as if it was a present? Or am I a mean old witch assuming the worst from everybody? Daily Painting about panem et circenses 9 June 2010, 7:47 pm Bread and circuses, watercolour, 14,9 x 10,4 cm
Today I was in Lindlar, where I lived decades ago, to talk about an exhibition. And I looked out of the window and saw the driving school where I learned. I was aghast. It was an awful time in my life and this driver’s license was my ticket to freedom. Daily Painting about memories 8 June 2010, 8:02 pm Good old times, watercolour, 15 x 10,5 cm
