The rare moments of inspiration: closing the eyes in your garden, feeling the wind on the cheeks and smelling roses and herbs. Swaying in the rhythm of flashing pictures of forgotten dreams in your burning mind. Daily Painting about inspiration

Today I got the news that one of my Twitterfriends nearly died last week. It’s shocking, I never met him, but he seems to be a vital part of my everyday life. This is the shizophrenia of social networking in the digital world – so far, but so near. I’m very happy that he is better now. Daily Painting about gratitude

How beautiful! In the last years nobody cared about the little park in front of my house and all my attempts to make it nice were in vain. But today came a group of people from the church vis-à-vis and they planted flowers and bushes. And now it looks wonderful! Daily Painting about green fingers

I don’t like hunting. But so many people I met in the last time seem to be passionate hunters. All right, I try to be tolerant, they are really nice persons. But then they want to proof me how politically correct they kill and tell me their best hunting stories. And I hate to hear how wonderful the animals die. Daily Painting about friendly hunters

Today was the memorial service for the victims of the Loveparade catastrophe. I’m still upset about this disaster and all the lies we got told. They wanted to realise this event come hell or high water and it came hell. Daily Painting about temper

This was a day full of hard work. My head is spinning with 3 different projects. A new one: I plan a painted guide through the Eifel – wonderful, but work under pressure, editor is waiting for it. Sometimes art shows us its humourless face. Daily Painting about labour

Good news from Spain: for the first time a province decides to ban bullfights. I’m very happy about this decision from Catalonia, I detest torture animals for the fun of the masses. This is not a national culture, it’s senseless cruelty. Daily Painting about sacred cows

Today I really needed a pause. Yesterday evening I somehow managed to unpost my Daily Painting and that was the signal: Stop! Have a quiet day! Well, in fact I looked at all the things I did in the last weeks and I felt really special. Daily Painting about flight

Each time I cook I remember the persons who ate this special meal with me before. So I invite always at my table the memories and the spirit of all the persons who were my guest in my life. Sometimes it’s a strange company but I never forget my recipes. Daily Painting about spiritual cooking

Today I found a can with white laquer. This is a sign, I called and began to paint everything that didn’t run away: bed, table, chairs, doors, windows, more tables and so on. Now the can is empty except for a little rest. Perhaps the white colour of my Pinscher needs a little brush-up? Daily Painting about makeover

Eifel Flood Disaster

The flood disaster on 14–15 July 2021 destroyed almost the entirety of Maf Räderscheidt’s life’s work when a flood wave from the Urft, approximately 3.50 high, surged through her studio on the Plan in Gemünd and swept thousands of paintings, watercolours, drawings, etchings and everything else towards Lake Urft. Consequently, almost every image posted before that date has, sadly, been destroyed and is no longer available. The few that were saved are completely ruined and contaminated by water, mud and the many unspeakable things that were washed down to Gemünd from thousands of garden sheds, cars, heating oil tanks and five sewage treatment works.
