Today a friend came back from his trip to Sri Lanka. He lived with the people there and saw lots more than only the hotels. And he told about turtles and elephants he met – he’s a little bit mean, he knows I love elephants and great animals. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you see that this day will be dark. No light, no passion, no hope and no future. Snowstorm whole day through. The valley is nearly sunk, the schools are closed tomorrow. And on this day my little old white cat has an surgery. And you know what her name is? Smilla, strange, isn’t it? She’s fine again, thank God. Daily Painting about the sense of snow 2 February 2010, 7:16 pm Smilla’s Sense of Snow, watercolour, 12 x 17 cm
Snow the whole day through. Now it’s getting difficult. Everybody is very upset, traffic gets impossible. And the animals get mad too: tonight I counted my dogs and suddenly I had five! A fox joined in for a few minutes until he vanished in the dark. Daily Painting about fox in snow 1 February 2010, 7:18 pm Sorry, this entry is only available in Deutsch.
Snow the whole day. Yesterday evening it was quiet and then I heard a little bird sing a protest song. Just for a moment but I joined in and said: Yes, enough winter, let’s have some springtime! But the next weeks will be cold though. Daily Painting about birds in the night 29 January 2010, 7:33 pm When the nightbirds are calling, ink on watercolour, 24 x 17 cm
Today I’ll have a long trip through the mountains. I’m a little bit nervous about the weather, because after they forecasted two weeks ago a gigantic catastrophe and ended up with 2 cm of snow everybody is afraid to exaggerate. So I don’t know what to expect. Daily Painting about the obscure 28 January 2010, 7:25 pm Journey into the unknown, watercolour on handmade paper from the Eifel (Zerkall), 19 x 16 cm
This was a wonderful day in my studio. Since a few weeks I work on a project about the german painter Schirmer and today I finished two more paintings. Now I’m peaceful and exhausted. Going to have a shower. Daily Painting about having a bath in colours 27 January 2010, 7:45 pm Finally a bath in colours, plaster on watercolour, 3 charcoal strokes and notebook, 30 x 21 cm
Today I was very busy – lots of painting and lots of organizing. And I collected a few informations about my special friend with a little chat here, dropped a word there. It’s good to know who is your opposite and how to face him. Daily Painting about jugglers 26 January 2010, 7:56 pm Mayor of the jugglers, watercolour on plaster, 30 x 28 cm
Today I had a long talking to a police officer about a man who threatened me several times. It’s difficult, no witnesses and nothing provable. I will lead off the fight against this sick man – but smart and intelligent. You know me, I’d better love to simply puff him away! Daily Painting about headwind 25 January 2010, 7:40 pm Headwind, watercolour, 25 x 22,5 cm
The last eventful weeks took their toll: today I was so shy, I hid in the house and didn’t open the door. It was wonderful – so I could enjoy the animals. I nearly had forgotten why they live with me. Daily Painting about a wrecked ark 24 January 2010, 7:35 pm The wreck of the ark be my houseboat, watercolour, 25 x 22 cm
