It was a sunny day and the last weekend in summer. Everybody went outside and stormed the garden restaurants. But it was so idiotic cold, that the innkeepers ran around and issued woolen blankets. What a sight: september sun, summer drinks and freezing people. Daily Painting about picnic

A surprising call from Switzerland: a big astrology website wants to use some of my Daily Paintings to illustrate their horoscopes. What a pleasure to see them traveling and spread over the world. Art breaks through frontiers. Daily Painting about border crossers

Today a visitor handed me a dreamcatcher as present. Very kind, but I don’t want to have my bad dreams catched away. I find them extremely important, because they warn and teach me. Anyway, my cats find dreamcatchers very entertaining. Daily Painting about dreams

Sometimes I feel like the death of my father was yesterday and not more than two years ago. Today is such day. This Daily Painting is for all people who lost their fathers, mothers or anybody else they loved. With special regards and lots of love

Today I made the first sculpture since I left art school. It was such fun to draw in the 3rd dimension. One more proof that everyday life and artmaking do not fit together too well: I can’t remove the plaster from the telephone handset. Daily Painting about making art

Kunst ist einfach nur ein kleines bißchen Zauberei

Tonight is the opening of the „Criminale“, the big german crime author’s meeting in the Northern Eifel. Lots of readings and events and now is the first one. I hope it won’t be too dangerous with all the criminal energy around me. Daily Painting about Eifel crime

Today a big white stork passed my studio window. I was concerned, it looked quite thin. Is it capable to pass the alps and reach Africa? My animal welfarist heart says it would be better to book a flight in budget airline. Hm, but will the plane reach Africa? Daily Painting about air traffic

Art Scandal in Cologne: falsifications of Campendonk and Pechstein were sold on an auction. Strange: everytime I bring a painting to this house they reject it because they doubt the originality. Perhaps it’s a compliment for my technical abilities? Daily Painting about truth

Fighting Day! There is a quarrel about the little dog I take care for. She is diabetic, nearly blind, can’t stay alone and I refuse to bring her into a kennel and a dubious situation. But this is only one war zone, at all fronts is upset. You could think they have an accord. Daily Painting about agreement

All the day I worked on a new idea: little unique books to give away a little luck for the viewer. But when I look at pictures I see that there is so much more you can find in them. Go out and see and perhaps you find your own but complete different story in my paintings. Daily Painting about stories

Eifel Flood Disaster

The flood disaster on 14–15 July 2021 destroyed almost the entirety of Maf Räderscheidt’s life’s work when a flood wave from the Urft, approximately 3.50 high, surged through her studio on the Plan in Gemünd and swept thousands of paintings, watercolours, drawings, etchings and everything else towards Lake Urft. Consequently, almost every image posted before that date has, sadly, been destroyed and is no longer available. The few that were saved are completely ruined and contaminated by water, mud and the many unspeakable things that were washed down to Gemünd from thousands of garden sheds, cars, heating oil tanks and five sewage treatment works.
