My new weekly painting is about schools closing down in the Eifel

14 January 2015, 4:07 pm

Demographisch wird der Wandel
Und so leiden Land und Handel,
Eine Schwalbe macht noch keinen Sommer
Und fünf Schüler den Lehrer nicht frommer.
Leute wählen mit den Füßen,
Weil die Kinder lernen müssen.
Bleiben Schulen erst geschlossen,
zieh’n die Eltern fort, verdrossen.

My weekly painting this week is about the railway traffic in the Eifel

7 January 2015, 7:04 pm

Auf dem Bahnsteig stehen wir und hoffen
Noch sind die Termine offen
Abenteuer Eifelreise
Naht und schockt auf immer neue Weise
Baum auf Schiene, Mast steht schief,
Streikt da wer, der grad noch schlief?
Denn der Schneckentanzplatz Bahn
Überrascht, wenn tatsächlich Züge fahr’n

Eifel Flood Disaster

The flood disaster on 14–15 July 2021 destroyed almost the entirety of Maf Räderscheidt’s life’s work when a flood wave from the Urft, approximately 3.50 high, surged through her studio on the Plan in Gemünd and swept thousands of paintings, watercolours, drawings, etchings and everything else towards Lake Urft. Consequently, almost every image posted before that date has, sadly, been destroyed and is no longer available. The few that were saved are completely ruined and contaminated by water, mud and the many unspeakable things that were washed down to Gemünd from thousands of garden sheds, cars, heating oil tanks and five sewage treatment works.
