Culture Shock
My new weekly painting is about the carnival and the upcoming spring
This is my work for the #twitterartexhibit in March in Moss
“Da Jöh” is sort of a mantra in the region where I live. Most conversations between people from the northern Eifel end with a little joke and a finishing “Da Jöh”. You could translate it with “Go on”. In former days people used to call it to their draft animals, to drive them on. It’s still in use by people working with logging horses.
This is my old etching “Fox Hunt at the feet of the Falling”, because the animal rights activists succeeded in disturbing the big fox hunt next weekend. The hunters won’t parade their murderous hobby publicly.
My new weekly painting is about the closing of the open-air bath in Blankenheim
The finished new painting: “When the artists yet were allowed to dream”, oil on canvas, 120 x 160 cm
Doing a lot more details on my new painting – work in progress
Two more details of my new oil painting “When the artists were allowed to dream”
The new weekly painting is about a bookbinder
Samtene Bütten, edles Papier,
Dieser Geruch gefällt nicht nur mir,
Gebündelt, geschnitten in größeren Ballen,
Geklebt und gebunden gegen Auseinanderfallen
Buchbinderleim und Handwerksgeschick
Ist für den Künstler das reinste Glück.
Auch die Malerin, oh wei, begeistert sich,
Fast berauscht, ganz fürchterlich,
Reißt die Blätter wieder raus,
Malt sich Wochenspiegelbilder draus
